Creating Users

Mar 3, 2015 at 11:51 PM
When trying to create a new user, after clicking Save, it brings me to a page that says 'Index' and the user is never created.

Any suggestions?

To Manually Add Users:
  1. Open SQL Management Studio
  2. Locate and open the kbvault database
  3. Click on Tables
  4. Right Click on dbo.KbUser and choose "Edit Top 200 Rows"
  5. Fill in the fields whereas:
  6. ID = Number Value (just increment by 1)
  7. UserName = The desired User Name
  8. Password = Password (this will be clear text if input manually keep this in mind)
  9. Name= First Name
  10. LastName= Last Name
  11. Email= Desired email address of user
  12. Role= User role (example Admin)
  13. Author= Author number

Is anyone still having this issue with the latest development version?
May 13, 2015 at 8:26 PM
I just installed a fresh copy of KBVault today and am having this issue; also, I cannot add users manually to the database as the password filed is encrypted. If I put in a user manually they cannot login as the password is stored in a hashed value. To work around this, I've used the hashed value for the admin password and am currently using it. Anyone know how to work around this so passwords can be set?

Perhaps try:
  1. Create user manually in the Database, set the password to FAKE (or whatever you want)
  2. After the user is created in the Database, go to the Dashboard and change the password. Put anything you want for 'current password' but type the new password twice, then click Save.
Let me know of that works.

Also, this problem has been fixed in newer versions of the code. Check the Source Code section.

That doesn't work either; I'm just going to update to a newer version. Thanks for the help though!

Let me know if you need help navigating the source code. The Master and Development versions are currently the same.
